Scenic Rim was recognised by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 regions to visit in the entire world in 2022. One of the drawcards that make this special place a must-visit destination? Scenic Rim is a powerhouse of local food and tourism, set against a stunning backdrop of natural wonders.

With this official status unlocked, Scenic Rim Regional Council has been busy welcoming visitors to the beautiful region. Among many other things, one of the biggest festivals they run is their annual 'Eat Local Month' - Australia’s most authentic paddock-to-plate food and farming festival.

It’s a mammoth series of events where they partner with 60+ unique event organisers to run over 100 events in the month of June. Each weekend hosts an array of events focused around a different region in the Scenic Rim in order to highlight that area’s local produce, farms, wineries, breweries and distilleries.

Streamlining festival management with Humanitix

Scenic Rim Regional Council has been using Humanitix for the last 3 years to centralise their ticket sales and manage Eat Local Month. It's a massive job for their small team to curate 100+ individual events across various locations - how do they do it all? With the help of Humanitix of course!

Key features they swear by include:

  • Game-changing itinerary planning with Collections: The introduction of this feature has revolutionised how attendees explore events across different areas each weekend, enabling them to streamline itinerary planning that involves more than one event.
  • Dual access & permissions: Each event organiser can manage their own event and ticket revenue, while Council maintains oversight, monitor sales and be responsive with festival marketing.
  • Customised access levels: Council can tailor the levels of access, ensuring ticketing stays in expert hands and a consistent look and feel across all events.
  • Quality control: Council can choose to be copied into customer queries or notifications, but will only step in when necessary to control the integrity and quality of the event.
  • Integrated analytics & marketing: With geotagging and platform improvements, data insights continue to refine event success and the team’s marketing and targeting efforts.

“The beauty of partnering with Humanitix is that it’s actually user-friendly… given the complexity of the festival and the timeframe required to deliver the events across 4 weeks and 5 weekends, using Humanitix has been a game-changer. There’s also the additional benefit of great value alignment - we’d much rather prefer working with a local non-profit where the profits go into social impact and education projects for disadvantaged kids.”

A sell-out success

Eat Local Month has a dedicated following, experiencing a spike in ticket sales during the event’s first ever pre-sale in 2024. With tickets selling like hotcakes even before the public launch, Scenic Rim’s approach to marketing and audience engagement is clearly working.

Over 30% of the attendees of Eat Local Month will go to more than one event, and a staggering 90% say they’ll return to the region. This isn't just about selling tickets for these events; it’s about fostering long-term community engagement and regional economic growth, and helping people discover (and rediscover!) all the beauty that Scenic Rim has to offer.

Spotlight on the hard workers

Eat Local Month isn’t just a festival — it’s an opportunity to spotlight the hardworking growers, farmers, producers, and small businesses while giving visitors an unforgettable experience. With the cost of living crisis and in the wake of Cyclone Alfred that battered the region back in March, we need no other excuse to support local, help these small businesses thrive and celebrate regional food, community, and connection.

Tickets for Eat Local Month are now on sale here, but if early ticket sales are any indicator, this year’s festival is shaping up to be the biggest yet!
