“I feel like a lot of people might think that Humanitix is only for bigger companies and big events. But for small businesses and non-profits, Humanitix is the only recommendation I’d make. They are so helpful without being intrusive. Humanitix does things in a way that allows the host to decide how they do things. On top of that they’re quite flexible in working with small businesses.”

Maria Yebra, General Manager at Laneway Learning

Host with the Most: Laneway Learning

Laneway Learning is a community-based non-profit that hosts informal, affordable and accessible evening classes in a diverse range of topics, from art to science and literature. Maria believes that everyone should have the chance to learn and to share their skills. She uses Humanitix to provide fun and interactive lifelong learning experiences to her community.

“Getting out of your comfort zone and learning new things -  it's like a push-up for your brain. Your brain just loves to be out of its comfort zone. Laneway Learning provides cheap fun classes that allows people to just do that, every day.”

Laneway Learning was looking for a low-cost and intuitive platform that would enable them to quickly set up many of their classes and workshops.

“For the first eight years, we used another ticketing platform. It was clunky. It was awful and convoluted. There was none of the basic features for event planning. No waitlists. We were tossing up making our own software from scratch to do exactly what we want to do, or relying on an external provider. The other external providers available didn’t understand that we were a charity and our margins are minimal.”

“A lot of companies tried to sell us their software. So at first I was doubtful to go with a new ticketing platform. The main reason that convinced me was that Humanitix was non-profit and we shared the same values around education. Once I saw the Humanitix platform, it was like love at first sight. I thought ‘oh finally, something that would be external’. So it was like a god-send to have Humanitix as a partner.”

“I found Humanitix to be very intuitive and very easy to use from the beginning. It took us from having to spend an hour and a half to set up an event down to literally five minutes. It took the pressure off our admin team because they weren't receiving complaint emails. Now they get an email maybe once every three days. So we didn’t need an admin person anymore.”

We asked Maria what she and her team loved the most about Humanitix. Here are her top 3 picks:

Create events in a matter of seconds

The duplicate event function allows you to easily create a new event using a previous event framework, saving you time on your event setup.

“We have sixteen events a week, fifty-two weeks of the year. So it works really well because once you have a template done, it's amazing that you can duplicate an event with one click.”

Building a following on Humanitix

Ticket buyers can follow your host profile and be notified via email each time you create a new public event.

“Another thing that really surprised me on Humanitix was that it allows attendees to follow hosts. So now we have over 1,700 people following us. Then it was a nice surprise to have Humanitix ask us if we wanted to promote our events to our followers. I was so happy. It’s a fantastic marketing tool.”

“What I really can appreciate about Humanitix was how easy it was to work with everyone. I had heaps of conversations with your sales team that I found out I was actually talking to the founder.”
