How Purple Foundation cut ticketing admin by 30% by switching to Humanitix

Purple Foundation is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that has been producing LGBTQIA+ events since 2001, donating over $2.34 million to LGBTQIA+ charities through fundraising events. It moved its events to Humanitix in 2024. The 2026 edition of its flagship fundraiser, Purple Party Weekend, included 11 separate events across a five-day weekend. With Humanitix, Purple Foundation gets to design the weekend it wants and the ticketing supports it, rather than the other way around.

One pass, every door

Purple Party Weekend is not one event with a single entry time. It is a program of events spanning a welcome center, after-hours parties, pool parties and main parties, running across a five-day weekend and sold primarily as a single pass. This structure depends on one specific capability: a secondary QR code that lets a single pass grant entry to multiple events.

When Purple's previous ticketing platform removed that capability, scaling the weekend back was never on the table. Blake Baker, President and Executive Director of the Purple Foundation, went looking for a platform that met the needs of the Foundation and its events. Humanitix supports secondary tickets natively, so attendees hold one QR code and use it at every door.

"The secondary ticket support and just the ease of using Humanitix is the core function of what's helping us run successful events."

Build it once, repeat it every year

Building 11 events carries a large amount of underlying configuration: ticket types, tiers, pricing and the corresponding relationships between a weekend pass and each individual event it unlocks. Purple has refined that structure, and its precise interactions, over successive years.

Humanitix lets hosts duplicate events and carry those relationships into the next one, so the links between passes and the events they admit survive the copy, and the following year's build starts from a working structure rather than from scratch.

"Whenever I take one year and basically duplicate it for the next year, all of those contingencies of how it works through the process is carried over. It links to the new ticket, so I don't have to go back in and relink it and redo all of the ticket relationships because they're already laid out from before. Those kinds of things are just big time savers for me. It helps me make fewer mistakes."

Ask a question, get an answer

A ticketing structure this intricate raises questions that documentation alone cannot answer, and they tend to arrive close to the event. On Purple's previous platform, waiting on responses was itself a drain on Blake's time.

Humanitix support runs across email, live chat, live support calls and an AI chatbot trained on the product (shoutout Peach! πŸ‘), with support also available in the box office app for use on site. For Purple, it was the speed of resolution that stood out.

"I was surprised at how effective your support is. If there's a problem, they respond super quickly, and the solution is found really quickly. Even your AI chat seems to be very patient."

The result

Blake estimates that moving to Humanitix has cut the time he spends on ticketing by at least 30%. The effect is visible to attendees as well. Purple surveys its audience after every Purple Party Weekend and asks about ticketing by name, and in the 2026 survey attendees rated their ticketing experience 4.5 out of 5, with almost 90% giving it a 4 or 5. This is an improvement from the year before, with the share of neutral ratings more than halving.

"One barcode for everything felt like it made every line go by quickly."
"It just works."
"LOVE Humanitix over all others."

Blake has since referred other hosts to Humanitix.

"Just take the leap and trust that it's going to be a good decision. The documentation is really good. They're going to be supported throughout their journey. Everyone that I've encountered that works at Humanitix is incredible. They actually care about how we're doing and what our experience is. They're not going to regret it."

Eleven events, five days, one QR code. The 2027 build starts with the 2026 structure, so Blake can spend more time creating the iconic Purple Party Weekend.
