Humanitix wins the Denver Business Journal's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awards 2023
29th Jun 2023
Last week, we were honored to receive Denver Business Journal's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.
The DE&I Awards 2023 recognize businesses and leaders in metro Denver who are going above and beyond to bolster equality across all areas of diversity, including age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and religion.
Humanitix focuses on improving diversity, equity and inclusion in a multitude of ways and at all levels of our organization. When an event host uses Humanitix as their ticketing platform, we charge a booking fee for each paid ticket sold; we then use all profits from these fees to fund educational charities like Code.org, which teaches computer science to underprivileged kids. We donate our profits to battle the marginalization that we see across education. We fight for children to have access to a fantastic education, no matter who they are. Since launching Humanitix in 2016, we’ve given away almost US$2 million towards these causes.
With our position as an event ticketing platform that helps promote and facilitate events, we also have made it our focus to improve accessibility for people with disabilities who deserve equal access to events. During the Microsoft Hackathon for Accessibility in 2018, the Humanitix team interviewed many people living with disabilities and it became clear that most had given up attending live events due to the lack of information and the practical difficulties they faced. This has meant exclusion and difficulty participating, let alone working in, the gatherings that underpin community and culture.
We think they deserve better. Humanitix has built the first-of-its-kind accessibility inclusion tools into our platform which allows hosts to easily indicate what kind of accessibility requirements they are able to cater for during their events, and provide additional information which attendees have so desperately needed. This covers requirements from sign language interpretation, screenreaders for vision impairments, to wheelchair accessibility. Our ticketing platform, the administrative backend and the Humanitix for Hosts app have all been designed and built to be compatible with screenreaders, so both attendees and event hosts with visual impairments can more easily use Humanitix.
Leading USA accessibility charity Knowbility said:
“Humanitix [is] the most accessible ticket sales and registration system we’ve ever seen…It is so encouraging to find a startup company that cares about accessibility right out of the gate…they charge us far less than any other vendor and are arms wide open to customer feedback on accessibility and other human-based needs.”
We're stoked that we've been recognized for our commitment to making the world a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place to live. Thank you Denver Business Journal, and congratulations to all other winners for all the strides made in diversity, equity and inclusion!
Humanitix
Humanitix is the world’s first humane ticketing platform that donates 100% of profits from booking fees to children’s charities. Backed by Google.org and the Atlassian Foundation, Humanitix is converting the USD $3.7bn in annual global booking fees into social impact projects that give disadvantaged kids greater access to education, healthcare and a fair go in life.
