Seattle summers are genuinely earned. After nine months of gray, the city finally flips a switch. The mountains reappear. The waterfront wakes up. The days stretch long into the night.

We’re talking: lavender fields. Art fairs. Block parties.

Consider this your Seattle summer cheat sheet.

Mini Golf at Olympic Sculpture Park

Mini golf. On a living artwork. With views of Puget Sound.

Each of the nine holes has been designed by a Seattle-based artist, so you're essentially playing through a gallery. Except you've got a putter in your hand and a score to settle with whoever you came with.

The FIFA World Cup Fan Festival

Seattle is a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the city hasn't kept the party confined to Lumen Field. Fan celebrations are spread across four locations along Seattle's Unity Loop: Seattle Center, Waterfront Park, Pacific Place, and Victory Hall, all free and open to the public.

Giant screens, global food vendors, live music. Pick a location or work through all four.

Sequim Lavender Festival

This one's worth the drive.

About 1.5 hours from Seattle sits a valley that turns purple in July.

Celebrating its 30th year, the festival is free across all three days, with more than 200 vendors, three days of live local music, a beer garden, lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade, and the option to visit 21 working farms. You can cut your own bundles in the fields, watch essential oil distillation up close, and buy products you won't find anywhere else.

Sequim in July smells like nowhere else.

Seattle Art Fair

Back for its 10th edition, the Seattle Art Fair brings together more than 95 galleries and the Pacific Northwest's foremost cultural institutions at Lumen Field Event Center. This year introduces a first-ever focus on textile and fiber art, with dedicated presentations and a partnership with The Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum.

Seafair Weekend Festival

Seattle's premier boating event, air show, and festival all rolled into one. Celebrating summer since 1950, Seafair Weekend is one of the most anticipated events of the Seattle summer calendar, three days at Genesee Park on the shores of Lake Washington.

The air show runs all three days, headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performing each afternoon. On the water, H1 Unlimited hydroplanes race across Lake Washington at speeds that make the whole thing feel slightly unreal. There's also a Dick's Drive-In Classic Car Show, food vendors, and beer gardens across the grounds.

General Admission on Friday July 31 is free.

Capitol Hill Block Party

This is one of those rare festivals that feels both massive and intimate at the same time. Three days, multiple outdoor stages, and over 100 performances from artists spanning hip-hop, electronic, rock, and R&B.

The 2026 lineup includes MUNA, Wet Leg, Magdalena Bay, Parcels, Disco Lines and more. The neighborhood itself sets the scene, with Capitol Hill's restaurants, bars, and boutiques all within walking distance.

Tickets sell out. Don't wait.

Movies at the Mural

A beloved Seattle summer tradition. Every Friday from late July through August, the Mural Amphitheatre lawn fills up with blankets, low-back chairs, and quality cinema.

The setup: a 40-foot screen, the Space Needle looming above, and a crowd that turns up early and stays late. Each screening is preceded by a short film from student filmmakers, a nice touch that keeps it feeling genuinely local.

No tickets. No apps. Just show up and enjoy.

When: Fridays, July 24–August 21, 2026 from 9pm

Bumbershoot

Seattle’s iconic arts & music festival, 53 years in the making and still the most surprising weekend in Seattle. Bumbershoot returns to Seattle Center over Labor Day weekend with music, art, food, and what the festival itself calls "the wonderfully weird." 66 wrestlers, 37 fashion designers, 44 short films, 55 comedians, 27 restaurants, 81 skateboarders, 4 stunt BMX riders, and 1 mermaid.

Seattle This Summer

Seattle summers are fleeting, and that's what makes them so special. A Seattleite never takes a sunny weekend for granted. So get out there. Lavender fields, block parties, hydroplanes on Lake Washington, and maybe spot a mermaid at Bumbershoot.
