Humans of Humanitix: Meet Nick Lorson

Jul 23rd 2026

Two young men sitting outdoors while camping next to a dark green tent at dusk or night. The man in the foreground on the left wears a black cap and an orange half-zip fleece sweater, holding a can while laughing cheerfully with his mouth open. Next to him on the right sits another smiling man in a colorful patterned shirt. In the top right corner, a logo reads "HUMANS OF HUMANITIX", and large light-green text across the lower right reads "Meet Nick!" accompanied by two drawn peach-colored heart icons.

Role:
Head of Partnerships

Tenure: 2.5 years

Location: Sydney, Australia

Some people light up a room. Nick Lorson lights it on fire, all whilst making everyone in his radius feel genuinely seen. He also plays a mean game of ping pong; you have been warned.

As Head of Partnerships, Nick spends his days helping some of the biggest event hosts in the country succeed on Humanitix. He does it all while living by one personal rule: if you've got the juice to ask, you'll end up further than you thought.

We sat down with Nick to talk unlikely career pivots, surfing regrets, and why egg yolks are, in his professional opinion, nasty.

A young man wearing a dark Columbia jacket and beanie sits at an outdoor mesh metal table on a rooftop patio, giving a peace sign to the camera. On the table, there is a large dark water bottle and a red brochure reading "KINOKI." String lights hang above the patio railing, overlooking a scenic view of town rooftops and surrounding mountains under a cloudy sunset sky.

What led you to join Humanitix?

Honest answer: one of my best mates works in recruitment and told me about this company he thought I'd love. Not exactly the typical path; most people go looking for Humanitix rather than the other way around, but working alongside so many intrinsically motivated people has been genuinely life-changing.

What's been a highlight of your Humanitix journey so far?

Two things stand out. Getting to see behind the scenes of the exact kind of events I spend my spare time attending, and being part of the Staff Giving initiative, which gave me the opportunity to put substantial support behind a cause close to my heart. Turns out working somewhere that lets you fund what you actually care about hits different.

What are you most looking forward to?

Watching Humanitix scale into stadiums and large venues. And a little personal goal: scanning my season pass to the Sydney Swans on Humanitix in a few years.

A close-up selfie of a smiling couple sitting in stadium stands during a sporting event. The woman on the left has long, wavy dark brown hair and wears a dark jacket over a red-and-white striped scarf. The man on the right has short buzzed hair, light eyes, and a trimmed beard, wearing a black jacket with a red-and-white scarf draped around his neck. The packed stadium seating with other spectators and illuminated "QBE Insurance" signage are visible in the background.

Any advice for someone starting out in sales?

Make sure you actually love it. Clichรฉ, sure, but true. The no's and the rejection can wear on you, but if you've got the competitive spirit and an internal drive to succeed, it's the most rewarding line of work I've found. Being able to tie success directly to effort is a huge motivator too.

The man on the left wears a black cap, an orange half-zip fleece, and black shorts, holding a drink can and laughing animatedly with one hand open. The man on the right wears a colorful patchwork shirt and light grey trousers, smiling relaxed with his legs crossed.

What's a skill you've picked up at Humanitix that you never expected to learn?

Going vegetarian. Not exactly a skill, but it happened off the back of some honest conversations with a couple of colleagues. Shoutout to Sam and Lucy.

What's your favourite part of the job?

The people. (And the ping pong. ๐Ÿ“)

How would you describe the Humanitix culture to someone who's never worked here?

Open, diverse, accepting, and just the right level of weird.

A group of six smiling young adults taking a selfie on a lively rooftop patio. A man in a light grey polo shirt holds the camera in the foreground, flanked by a blonde woman on his left and a woman with long dark hair, round glasses, and a denim jacket on his right. Behind them, three friends pose excitedly, including a woman with short blonde hair and a man wearing a black baseball cap. The Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour are visible in the scenic background.

What's something that surprised you about working here?

How much room there is for people to hold genuinely different views without anyone shutting them down. It's pushed me to actually listen, to understand the why behind someone's opinion rather than just reacting to the what. Honestly, it's changed my worldview for the better.

Tell us about a project you're proud of.

The new Unified Waitlist and Pre-Authorisation Token Technology, released just last month. I'll take no credit for actually building it, but it's been great getting to implement it for some of our largest hosts and watch the impact firsthand. Tomorrowland CORE and Strawberry Fields both used it with huge success. It's a real testament to the kings and queens we have in the engineering and dev teams at Humanitix.

A large group of friends posing together in a dusty, wooded forest area surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees, likely at an outdoor festival. Almost everyone is wearing bright red and eccentric costumes, including red wigs, patterned matching sets, crop tops, hats, and sunglasses. The group is smiling and leaning in toward each other in a cheerful, group photo setting.

Which Humanitix value resonates most with you?

Be Bold. The outcome you want is usually only a few hard or uncomfortable conversations away. If you've got the juice to ask, you'll end up much further than you thought.

Can you share a moment you felt the real-world impact of what we do?

One of the field surgeons from the Fistula Foundation, one of Humanitix's charity partners, came into the office to talk about the work they do. Hearing from someone who's spent much of the last 20 years in Africa performing life-altering surgeries for women in incredibly difficult conditions was truly humbling. Meeting someone so selfless, who's given so much of his life to the betterment of strangers, genuinely blew me away.

A man wearing a grey zip-up sweater, dark pants, and an event lanyard sits with hands clasped in front of a giant, pink, plush installation designed to look like the folds of a human brain. Directly above him, a sign with bold, light-green cartoon lettering reads "BRAINLAND".
