Humanitix Waitlist: Turning Sold-Out Demand Into A Sold-Out Success
Aug 10th 2026
‘Sold out’ shouldn't mean the story's over. For event hosts running high-demand shows, a sold-out event usually means a wave of missed opportunity too: fans hammering refresh on presale day and no real visibility into how much demand is actually out there once tickets run out.
The Humanitix Waitlist is our answer to that. It's a single feature that manages demand across the entire lifecycle of an event, from presale through to resale, so hosts get a clearer read on their audience and fans get a fairer shot at a ticket.
Strawberry Fields, CORE Melbourne and Rabbits Eat Lettuce trialled the Humanitix Waitlist for their ticket onsales. This feature update will soon roll out to all event hosts.

How the Waitlist Works
The Waitlist operates across three stages of an event:
Presale
Instead of a flat-out scramble when tickets go live, fans register their interest ahead of time. When the time comes, hosts let the ticket offers roll out to their presale waitlist. Hosts can offer auto-purchase, where card details are securely stored so a ticket is bought automatically if they're selected, or notify-me, where a fan gets alerted with a window of time to complete the purchase themselves. Either way, hosts get a real read on demand before a single ticket sells, and fans skip the queue entirely.
Post onsale
A sold-out event isn't the end of the demand curve - it's just demand with nowhere to go, yet. As cancellations or extra capacity free up tickets, they're released straight to people already on the Waitlist rather than left to chance. Hosts also get a live picture of exactly how much unmet demand exists, broken down by ticket type, through Waitlist sign-ups.
Resale
When a ticket comes back for resale, the Waitlist recaptures it and puts it back in front of a genuine fan instead of letting it leak onto third-party marketplaces. Cloudflare's bot protection sits underneath this, screening out automated buyers without forcing real fans through friction like mandatory account creation. Resold tickets are also capped at face value, so the next person in line pays what the ticket was always worth. It’s ethical ticketing and resale, rolled into one.

Early Access, Real Results
A handful of Australia's most in-demand festival brands have been running on the Waitlist since early access opened, and the results are giving us a clear signal.
Strawberry Fields used the presale Waitlist to sell 95% of its tickets before the event officially went onsale, giving the team a near-complete read on demand well ahead of onsale day.
CORE Melbourne has leaned on the post-sale side, using Waitlist sign-ups to understand exactly how much unmet demand sits behind a sold-out show, and which ticket types are driving it.
Rabbits Eat Lettuce has used the Waitlist across the full lifecycle, from presale registration through to resale, keeping tickets moving inside its own ecosystem rather than losing them to resale sites.

What connects all three: brands that have spent years building a reputation is that they are using the Waitlist to protect it, at every stage where that reputation is most exposed.
