"You ain't seen nothing yet" - Bruce Davidson, Yalari Chair

Bruce Davidson, as the Chair of Yalari, has been a huge supporter and friend of Humanitix for a number of years. He is always generous with his time and has visited our office multiple times with alumni and other staff to keep us in the loop with the happenings at Yalari.

Last visit, he spoke to us about what makes the long standing relationship between Humanitix and Yalari so special.

G'day Bruce! What does Yalari do?

Yalari is a foundation set up to educate children in leading boarding schools around the country - Indigenous children from remote and regional areas of Australia - with 21 partner schools that are probably some of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country.

And then we work with the alumni, those who graduate from the program, to develop the cohort of Indigenous leaders that we hope will shape outcomes to change the future of Australia for the better.

Tell us about the partnership between Humanitix and Yalari

So we've been a charity partner ever since the outset of Humanitix when Humanitix kicked off, and it's been a wonderful engagement. It's much, much more than just the dollars which have flown from it. And I'm always shocked, I mean, I do a lot of work in the technology space and [I know] just how hard it is to get a tech startup up and how much money goes into the development phases. And I know how few actually turn a dollar in their growth journey for many, many years.

And yet to date we've already received just shy of half a million dollars profits from Humanitix through their work. So, you know, in terms of real outcomes, [it has been] profound, and I have a suspicion we're only just beginning in that regard. But it's much more than that.

Humanitix wants to engage as a team. The people at Humanitix, they’re fabulous, we come to Humanitix offices and they come to our events
and it's really much more than a business arrangement, if you like. It's a friendship.

Is there something you'd like to say to the broader team at Humanitix?

The ripple effect of what you’re doing, the children you're educating, the young adults you’re now turning into leaders or helping in their leadership journey is genuinely reshaping outcomes in this country. Take the 500 alumni that we've developed together and turn that into 2,000 and you watch the impact this cohort of leaders have on this country and so to the Humanitix team: I say thank you.

And I also say you ain't seen nothing yet in terms of the impact you’re having.
